Is Spring here to stay?

We sure hope so, and as a result, we’ve started thinking of weekend escapes.  So has our latest client at Skylight One Hanson, Escapemaker.com.

A sustainable destination: Boldt Castle in the Thousand Islands

We love to host events that represent the new kind of cool that make Brooklyn one of the most cutting-edge communities in the world.  It’s a different kind of cool than what we see in Manhattan–a hotbed for the trends that start organically and sweep the nation–edgy, local, intellectual, green, foodie–these are the ideas that are redefining and shaping our world, our sensibilities, and our business.

Ahhhhhh....escapes

We usually blog about events after they’ve happened, but because Escapemaker.com’s event is not just incredible, but also open to the public, we invite you to check it out.  “Green Getaways: Local Food and Travel”  will take place on April 30th, and the $10 tickets can be purchased here.  We are especially excited to say that this event has “Been Greened.”  It can be done, and we encourage all of our clients to ask us how to green their own events and how to purchase carbon-offsets.

Learn about it

One year ago, EscapeMaker.com won an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences for their “Tastes of New York” webisode — one in a series that featured pick-your-own farms, wineries and food festivals across the state.  Riding the wave into the real world, this event will include wine and cheese tastings, sustainability workshops, local foods, activities for kids (including “Dutchess,” the 300 lb milkable cow!), and tons of ideas and information on sustainable getaways within hours of NYC.  Rounding out the day of tasting, travel and sustainability is the hippest in live music–Kingsley Flood, Ugly Purple Sweater, and Pearl & The Beard will perform.

Music, Food, Travel...and a milkable cow!
